shirakawago light up 2017

Hi. We are planning to go for shirakawago light up in 2017. We are waiting for the announcement. But till now still no news. We afraid we will miss out the light up events. Pls advice. .. coz we need to plan and book the houses and stay at the farmhouse. Heard the houses there will be occupied at that period. And we will be miss out.

I am pretty sure that I read that Shirakawago light up has been stopped indefinitely for 2017.

Postponement of the Announcement of the 31st Shirakawa-go Light-up event in 2017

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the many visitors who came to see the 30th Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri Village light-up event that was held this year from January to February. Thanks to your cooperation, the event ended without reports of any major incidents or accidents. However, due to an unexpected surge in the volume of visitors this year compared to previous years, safety measures were inadequate, and we have received many comments and expressions of concern from visitors.

As a result, we have been instructed by the Takayama Police Department which has jurisdiction over this area to ensure improvement to public safety, and talks are currently being held between the Shirakawa Village Office, Takayama Police Department and Shirakawa-go Nighttime Light-up Working Committee regarding the next event.

As such, although we had posted on our official website that the event schedule was to be announced around June, we have changed the date of announcement to "Undecided."

All official announcements regarding this event will continue to be posted at our official website. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
