Do trains stop at all the indicated stations? 2016/7/28 23:51
I read a Tripadvisor post about how the person missed a stop because not all train doors open. I am wondering if trains (limited express, local etc) stop at all the indicated stations or is there a need to press a bell when you reach your station.

Thank you!

All trains stop (and doors open) at their planned stops.

Trains stop at their indicated stations, but there are some situations where not all doors open. In some cases, only specific doors open such as the one at the front of the train, while in others you'll need to press a button to open the doors.

I was once in a same situation, could not open the door, and nearly missed my stop.
Apparently arriving at some unmanned stations, train exit is from the front , where the drive acts as a ticket conductor as well.

I've managed to find some blog posts about alighting at unmanned stations after posting this question. Thank you all!

One of the most typical situations is that some platforms are shorter than the newer trains. In this case, it's usually the doors in the rear carriages that do not open. This happens in Greater Tokyo too.

Another case is that in some train lines, you need to press a botton to open the door. This happens in more rural areas where there are less need to have every door open, especially when it's cold. I remember that a lot of subways in Europe work like this.

About stops, of course the faster trains skip stations.

In any case, these facts are printed on the inner walls of the trains and announced by voice. Nowadays, many are in one to three foreign languages.

But I think it's important that whatever country you travel to, if you're heading to somewhere very important, you should ask someone near you just in case. Just saying the name of the station/stop you want to get off works. Even if the person doesn't know the answer, (s)he will be able to inform you when they hear announcements in their local language.

But I just did that, and still missed my bus in Estonia. I enjoy happenings though.

Watch dep board info at tickert gate or railway map at platform
and Listen carefully train stopping announcement.
No announced station name won't stop.
All stations stop type is "LOCAL/普通/各停/各駅停車".
