Work Visa Extenstion

Hello
I have applied for my work visa but got a call from Embassy saying they cant extend and asked for identity proofs . As my visa is getting expired soon , am i allowed to stay in japan till i get this sorted or i have to leave japan .

Have you applied for a new work visa, or have you applied for an extension of a work visa?

I believe you should have a stamp in your passport telling you that your application is in process; you should be able to stay until they give you the conclusion. But if in doubt always check with the immigration.

Need more info. Do you mean you got a call from the Immigration Office? Because the embassy shouldn't be the ones handling a work visa extension.
