Hi, We are staying one week in Kyoto in August. From Kyoto we intend to : - travel to Koyasan and stay there for 2 days (and return to Kyoto) - go one day to Nara (and return to Kyoto the same day) We are planning to purchase a 3 days Kansai Thru Pass for this trip. However, i'm not sure if I need to buy a Koyasan World Heritage pass in addition to the Kansai Thru Pass to circulate in the Koyasan region ? Any help on this will be appreciated.

It seems good. I just did a quick calculation with Hyperdia, and the result is around 5500 yen at minimum.

No. Kansai Thru pass includes Rinkan bus in the Koyasan region so you don't need to buy Koyasan World Heritage pass.

Oh sorry I misread your post. You will go to Koyasan from Kyoto and go back and then go to Nara and back to Kyoto in the same day. I thought you will go to Nara directly from Koyasan. I think you might better stay 1 night in Nara on the way back from Koyasan which will reduce your traveling time.
