Hi, We want to visit the Kiso Valley for a day trip in November.
We will be coming from Kanazawa and travelling onto Kobe. We have two nights spare that we can spend in either Nagoya or Matsumoto.
Which would be best do you think if we want to travel to the Kiso valley for a day trip?

Nagoya. Only because it has much more things to do.

Neither are particularly exciting cities. Matsumoto's castle is interesting with lots of artifacts but there isnt much to do there. Nagoya is pretty industrial. I'd give both a miss and stay somewhere fun, like Hikone, which could also be a base for the Kiso Valley daytrip via Maibara.

Thanks very much for your advice and the links. Thinking that Nagoya will definitely be the best bet in the circumstances. Considering going to Nabana no Sato for the illumination on our arrival night. Has anyone been? Is it worth it?
