Outdoor in kumano kodo (at the fall)

Hey ,
We are thinking about doing 2 nights at Nakahechi (kumano kodo). We are a bit low on budgets so we thought sleeping outdoor (tents ,sleeping bags) .
1. is it possible doing that during the fall? (weather etc..)
2. are there any outdoor equipment shops in Tanabe that we can rent tent and sleeping bag from?
3. do you guys have any other suggestions ?

There is one outdoor store in Tanabe, called Ohana, but I don't think it rents gear.
In Takahara, you could talk to the owner of the Tenku-no-yama guesthouse and probably pitch a tent on his lawn.
Other than that, I have heard of people camping right on the trail, although it is discouraged officially.
You may want to post on the Trip Advisor forum--there are more people active there who can give you more information!
