Advice on honeymoon in Japan Oct 2016

Are there areas to avoid on certain days? We would like to try at least one private onsen if possible and Ryokan... Even though it's our honeymoon, hoping to find the right balance of culture + luxury + affordability :) Maybe one night of splurging is ok!

Day 1 10/18 Tuesday: Arrive Tokyo around 5pm
Day 2 Wednesday: Tokyo
Day 3 Thursday: Tokyo Day trip to Nikko
Day 4 Friday : Tokyo
Day 5 Saturday: Kyoto
Day 6 Sunday: Kyoto - Day trip to Kojima "Jeans Street"
Day 7 Monday: Kyoto
Day 8 Tuesday: Kyoto – Day trip to Nara
Day 9 Wednesday : Kyoto – Day trip to Osaka
Day 10 Thursday: Back to Tokyo
Day 11 Friday: fly home at 5PM.

I'd suggest having one night in a Hakone ryokan on Day 10. Your flight the next day is at 5pm so you'll have plenty of time to check out and get from Hakone to the airport.

What sort of budget do you think you'll have for your one night splurge?

Something with reason...to me $400 is a splurge on hotel :)

There are ryokans in Nara. Probably cheaper than Hakone.
Good thing about Hakone though is that the ryokans there would almost certainly have an onsen so you get to do both.

You should be able to get a room with private outdoor hot spring bath for around $400 at Ichinoyu Honkan

Hi all. We adjusted the honeymoon and still need some help. We have the JR Pass.

1. If we do day 3, What' the easiest way to get from Tokyo to Hakone or Mt. Fuji area and what's the easiest to get to outdoor onsen for an overnight stay?

2. Whats the easiest way to go from the Hakone/Mt. Fuji to Osaka?

3. If we do day 8, any recommended Ryokans with outdoor onsen?
