Sponsored visa on a tourist visa? 2016/9/27 06:48
Hey guys,

I have a random question for you. is it possible for UK citizens to get a sponsored visa after arriving in Japan on a tourist visa? Or would this all need to be done via the embassy back in the UK?

Also if you were already sponsored and in Japan on a Specialist in Humanities visa how difficult is it to transfer after moving to a different company, obviously this is if they are willing to sponsor you.

Thanks

Yes, it is possible to change your residence status in country. You just apply for the change at your local immigration office. Depending on the situation it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to process.

No, that is not necessary.

It's a simple process if the new job is covered by your existing residence class. In that case you basically just update immigration with your new details. If its a new residence class you'll have to file a change of status like in the above case.
