All you can eat menu 2016/10/3 12:40
Hi all,

We are thinking of trying all-you-can-eat shabu shabu in Japan. We have 3 people in our group. Do we have to all order from the same menu set? For example, would it be okay if one person order the 2400 yen (pork, chicken, and vegetable) and someone else orders 4300 yen (Japanese beef course)?

Thanks,

Those restaurants normally take the same menu orders as group visit(ie 3 people must order the same all-you-can-eat menu).
This is because, if one person orders an expensive menu, then they will share expensive menu of food within the group while remaining 2 people ordring cheap menu, whihc don't work as a system of all-you-can-eat.
If the restaurant staff accepts individual menus, you can do so. But I guess the seat/table could be separeted, due to ordering different menus.

You could of course go to somewhere that does regular (not all you can eat) shabu-shabu instead.

Sometimes (nabe-type) things have to be ordered in a minimum quantity of two, but otherwise there's then no problem with you all having different stuff (and no problem with you then sharing, if that's what you want to do).

I'm guessing that your motivation is to try shabu-shabu, rather than to eat as much shabu-shabu as you can?
