I take medications for my problems and i read somewhere that am not allowed to bring prescribed medications with me whilst am on holiday or during studying in Japan since the customs will check my luggage during the time i am on holiday in the airport.

You can bring some prescribed medications, but they must be in the original container with the prescription label. You can only bring certain amounts. You can check which medications are banned by Googling for a list of banned medications, or by going to the website of the Japanese embassy.

I've taken 6 trip into Japan since I've had the need to take medications (heart). I always put them in the week's-worth compartment plastic cases. Not once has anyone picked me out for inspection at customs.

not scary.
you can bring in the amount you need. if you are staying for 14 days, then bring enough to cover those days.
they will ask questions if you bring in 60 days worth for a 14 day trip.
