Takayama too crowded in July?

Hello, I am considering travel in Central Honshu including Takayama, Okuhida, Shirakawa and the Alpine Route in July 2017. I'm not fond of crowds (for example Himeji in July) and wondering if crowds are overwhelming in this area in July. Thank you for your help with this question, Sarah.

Generally speaking, I would expect weekdays in the first half of July to be rather quiet. I would also expect weekdays in the second half not to be too crowded. Weekends are probably a little more crowded, especially towards late July when summer holidays have started. But I am not sure what is your "tolerance level".

Thank you Uji, good to hear. My tolerance is moderate. In Himeji we were in line elbow to elbow through the castle.
