JR Pass for a short Visit

Hi - my friend and I will be travelling to Japan this coming November 30 until December 3 and we're thinking of buying passes. Our port of Entry and exit is Nagoya and basically we would want to roam around Nagoya but we plan to go to Tokyo for at least one day. Would you recommend buying a JR pass?

The JR PASS wont pay off as the return shinkansen journey will only cost you about JPY 22,000, (JR pass itself is about JPY 29,000). Unless if you go to other places as well like Takayama or Kanazawa i suggest you buy the individual ticket.
