Hi, I have a JR pass. In term of shopping, sightseeing and eating, which is a better area to stay - near JR Kawasaki or JR Kamata? Thank you.

It's only one station away so it doesn't matter too much. But I'd say Kawasaki is bigger town than Kamata, and there is a big shopping centre at Kawasaki station.

Kawasaki for sure, area around station has been renovated in recent years and with Lazona you will be close to everything
I have lived at Kawasaki for many years so you can trust my suggestion :)

No need Japan Rail Pass especially if 7 or 14d. 21d Pass even too much but will pay off by other days long ride. Kawasaki is larger than Kamata as town. Kamata is convenient access to HND or NRT. (fr Keikyu-Kamata. Not JR Kamata but not so far) https://goo.gl/maps/P98VkcPVYYS2BTW,where to go? What item you want/look for? (Pls repost "shopping" category if finding hard one)

Thank you all for the reply. I will traveling to Kyoto Osaka first before coming to Tokyo for return flight, will stay for another 3 days. Thus, will still have a valid JR pass. Been to Tokyo a few time, so mainly will be shopping and eating. This time because visiting around Christmas, the hotel in central Tokyo are so expensive, thus looking at Kawaski or Kamata where rates are more reasonable.
