I undersand having a car is like a "must" when going okinawa as public transportation can be quite infrequent and bus journey could take hours
Would it still be worth going Okinawa for maybe 4-5 days ? will be flying in to Naha from Taiwan
Interested in the aquarium and island like ishigaki/iriomote island
Thanks!

We visited Okinawa and the islands for a week, taking mainly public transport and occasionally taxis. No issue!

The first 4 days we based ourself in Ishigaki, visiting Iriomote, Kohama, Yubujima and Taketomi Islands. Unsure if you have direct flight to Ishigaki. The island looks so close to Taiwan. If you decide to joint islands tour, ferry terminal is the place, many tours operators have offices there. We flew from Ishigaki to Naha and spent 4 days visiting the Churaumi Aquarium, Ocean Expo Park, Shuri Castle, Ryukyu Mura, Okinawa World, Tsuboya Pottery District, Kokusaidori Street, Tamaudun Mausoleum and others mainly by buses. Most of the buses depart from Naha bus terminal. It would be wise to stay in a hotel nearby. Also if you decide to join day tours, they have offices in and near the bus terminal .
