Kurama to Kibune hike

I would like to hike from Kurama to Kibune, will be doing so on either 30th or 31st Dec.
Will the entire trail be closed at this time as I've read that it will be close for 10days end Dec?
I would like so much to do the hike as I've seen lovely photos of the trail and would not want to take the train there only to know that its close to hikers.
Does anyone have an answer to this?
