Arashiyama starting point 2016/11/9 04:10
Hi,

Coming from Kyoto Station i plan to take JR Train to Saga-Arashiyama. But from Saga-Arashiyama its quite a walk to tenryu temple which is a recommended starting point. But i also noticed that there is a connecting Sanin Main line to Torokko Arashiyama, would this be also a good starting point or should i just walk from JR-Arashiyama to Tenryu?

The last time I went to Arashiyama, I went from the JR station. It feels like a long walk but I liked the walk across the bridge over the river. The Sanin station is closer for sure but it feels more "magical" coming from JR :)

You can always walk down the street to the tram station and go one stop for whatever their fare will be.

But I personally would just do the 15 minute walk to the bridge.

The Torokko-Arashiyama station is part of the Scenic Railway. No JR trains stop there.
