I'm planning to make a short stop in Mito and Kairakuen in my way from Tokyo to Sendai. I it possible to leave the luggage in a locker in the station or in the garden?

Just a note on the garden itself:
The garden is about half an hour on foot from the station (alongside the river for most of the walk) or about ten minutes by bus (if you can work it out; I couldn't when I was there, but also didn't want to have to wait around for a bus when I knew I could walk there). I didn't find the garden all that impressive when I went in early April; it would be most attractive in March when the huge plum grove is in bloom. The other two famous gardens, Korakuen (Okayama) and Kenrokuen (Kanazawa), were much more impressive than Kairakuen.
