Low water crossing 2016/11/28 05:18
Hi
I read on another thread about low water crossings in Japan, also called chinkabashi, located at some areas.

As flooding or so can prevent the road from being crossed, is there anyway to see live road conditions before setting out on a drive?

Can you expect road blocks or warning signs before a fork before the bridge in case of such occurance? I mean so I can make a detour if I need to cross the river somehow.

I saw some signs warning in case the water level is more than a few meters it should not be crossed, but it might be hard to see maybe.

I remember visiting Bitchu Takahashi before, they had a warning sign in case the dam was opened to stay off the dry river area, following a siren. Could I expect such sirens or dams upstream the bridges?

No such system on/by the road.
Locals know river conditons well.
If not by weather reports(TV,Radio, internet) and river condition live cams enough.

This is most famous Shimanto-gawa(river) cam.
