Which visa can I apply for in this situation? 2016/12/9 07:30
My situation is very hard to solve. I live in Sweden and have a very basic education (below university education). I want to live and work in Japan. I have a Japanese boyfriend there too so I really want to live there with him. Anyways. The thing is I do not know what visa I can apply for. I do not want study or doing any activities in Japan. I just want to work as a English teacher but I can not apply for a holiday visa because I'm from Sweden. Can someone help?

The only way I could see would be if you married that boyfriend.

Given your level of education, and that you (presumably) don't speak Japanese, I don't see much way - Japan has no need to import unskilled labor (other than to build the Olympic stadiums, and then they get SE Asians).

Marriage seems to be the most practical option.

If you had had at least 5 years career experience as a Sweedish cuisine chef and got a same job in Japan, for example, then you could have a chance to get a working visa.

If you really really want to live in Japan as a teacher of English without a degree, without marriage Japanese man, the only way is teaching English in your country 3-5 years with TESOL/TEFL then apply a job at Eikaiwa or kid's English school in Japan.

The main requirements for teaching English in Japan:
1-Must have BA
2-Native speaker/some cases native level maybe OK but won't be easy to find a job at all.
-Having teaching certificate/experience are plus.
Special case:
If you have JLPT N1, some companies or schools, may accept you even if you don't meet one of the above requirements.
In line with what was mentioned by other people, the best way for you to come to Japan is marriage.
Good luck!

oops, sorry I made a mistake.

A degree is dispensable to get a teaching position/a visa for teaching, IF you have at least 3 years teaching experience and meet all other criteia.

Most people say that degree is indispensable, because their knowledge is based on JET program.
It is ture that most companies require it, saying 'you need it for visa application' but even non-degree hoslders with at least 3 years experience is elligible to apply Engineer/Specialist in humanities/International services.
