Ooo I have very good recommendations on my blog. One of the local specialties to try is definitely hida beef. I had the best burger in Takayama and also traditional dinner meal in one of the oldest local restaurants. I recommend:
- Coffee at Soeur
- Lights Snacks and Desserts at Bagpipe
- Burgers at Center4 (make sure to book in advance, this place is insanely popular, for a good reason!)
- Traditional lunch/dinner (grilled meat, etc.) Dinner at Hidatakayama Kyoya.
All of them have English menus. I have more details on my blog. Hope this helps.
