Mt. Fuji day on Feb 23 & JR Tokyo Wide Pass 2017/1/13 20:04
Hi
- I will go to stay at Kawaguchiko on Feb23 , that day is Mt. Fuji 's anniversary day . I want to know , what have the activites on that day . Ex. Firework ?? ( If have firework , Where is the location that can see it.)
- My plan , I will use JR Tokyo wide pass for travel to Gala Yuzawa and Nikko by Shinkansen . Can I reserve seat on Shinkansen to both there ?

Thank you very much

[Firework festival at Lake Kawaguchiko]

On February 23, a firework festival is scheduled to be held from 20:00 for 20 minutes at Lake Kawaguchiko; its main site is O’ike Park.

(The festival may be cancelled due to weather conditions.)

Some organizations celebrate February 23 as a day of Mount Fuji, punning on the date 2-23 as "Fujisan" or "Fujimi" (= seeing Fuji); it’s not an anniversary of a historic or scientific event.

[Reserving Shinkansen seats]

Shinkansen reserved-seat tickets become available at 10:00 (Japan Standard Time) of the day one month previous to the boarding date.

For your Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen rides on your 2nd day or later in Japan, if you are a holder of a valid credit card of a brand designated by JR-East, you can try to reserve seats through the following website; please note that you should pick up your tickets by 21:00 (Japan Standard Time) of the day before your boarding date.

[Nikko trip]

Nikko is not served by Shinkansen.

When you travel mainly by Shinkansen, you make a transfer in Utsunomiya Station; Utsunomiya and Nikko are connected by JR Nikko Line, but trains are available only infrequently, so please check the timetables when you visit a JR ticket counter first in this journey.

Alternatively you can take JR-Tobu through Limited Express Nikko / (Spacia) Kinugawa trains, which run between (JR) Shinjuku and to Tobu-nikko / Kinugawa-onsen via Shimo-imaichi.

[JR TOKYO Wide Pass]

A JR TOKYO Wide Pass is good for 3 consecutive calendar days; this pass can cover your rides of non-JR Fujikyu(ko) trains (connecting Otsuki and Kawaguchiko) and the above-mentioned JR-Tobu through trains.

Modifying a link 2017/1/17 23:33
The link to Google Maps is not properly set, presumably due to kanji characters; let me modify it.
