Cycling Osaka-Tokyo in May. OK via Kamikochi? 2017/1/26 07:20
This will be our first trip to Japan. We'll be flying into Narita, take the train to Osaka and ride our bicycles back to Tokyo. From mid to late May.

Japan Cycling suggests a great route going through Japan Alps. It is not entirely clear, however, if the road (158) is passable in mid May.

A preliminary route can be seen at bit.ly/OsakaTokyo

Advice, links, suggestions welcome

No problem if no big avalanche btw old road Abo Pass/ˆÀ–[“».

Use street view. (you cannot enter toll road/long tunnel section)
In that period around higher(over 2000m) mountains top still snow covered a lot.
Be careful about temp, time of sunset and break/stay points.
Abo pass highest point is about 1750m still cold.

Most cyclist selected sea side "Route 1(National Road)" in Summer.

In that period few bike tourist for long distance.
(Behind car drivers often found later thinking "why now?" usual)
Buy flash light tail lump and buttery at 100Y(108Y/sales tax 8%) in Osaka.

Most Japanese calling 100‹Ï(hyakkin = short of hyakuYen kin-itsu).
100‰~ is hyaku Yen(100Y), ‹Ïˆê means flat rate/price (in this case)
A lot of useful items stocked for cyclist. (not only for tourist)
