Tokyo subway car question 2017/2/23 08:48
Ohio!
I went to Tokyo some years ago and I remember the subway trains looked quite the same. But when transfering from one line to another once I remember that one like had distinctingly wider doors on the subway cars than others.

This might be too vague but someone of you daily Tokyo visitors maybe recognize it already?

Well some of the lines and companies do have different cars. Most of the time the commuter trains I use are the ubiquitous 8 door versions, but there are others depending on the layout (eg side seats versus forward facing).

Rail stock from different companies may be made from different manufacturers. They may also be models of different years.

If travel period was after 2010 and felt like new car,
that is Tokyo Metro 15000 series for Tozai line still using.
All 1800mm wide door 50mm plus than others 1300mm(ave size) door car series.
(door height is 1850mm looks like "square" not vertically long)

Or,
if before 2010 summer, Odakyu 1000 series's (made from 1988 still using)
1500s/1750s cars (special customized in 1990 and recustomized in 1998)
with 1600mm door now from 2000mm super wide door mouth(still left) based.
2000mm door cars was using only in 1990-91 for heavy rush hour in/out
but it was faild(no big time saving) so recustomized again only slide width was back.

https://youtu.be/hrmMbH2rtPo (You can see the door NOT full open until door mouth frame)
Odakyu is NOT "Subway" company but also operating in
Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line(= Subway) as thru service train via Shinjuku everyday.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_through_trains_in_Japan
But Chiyoda Line thru service train of 1000 series operating is overed in 2010 summer.

However, also in Subway sections(Toei/Metro) car series are quite "different" as Rail fan eyes.

Now over 30 different car series total operating on everyday.
(included non-Subway companies thru service trains)
