Japanese natural soap 2017/2/25 15:39
Hi, I live in Tokyo and I have a friend who is into all natural products. She wants to buy soap in particular, but all is the soap stores in Tokyo are either not Japanese or want to look western.

Do you know of any Japanese stores that feel Japanese and all natural soap?

What are soaps to you that do not "want to look western"?

Before Western style soaps came into Japan, the Japanese used ashes. You can still find black toothpaste that is made from eggplant ash. Or perhaps you are looking for soaps with Japanese-style ingredients such as rice wine (sake) or camellia (tsubaki).

In any case, you can find authentic natural soaps at natural food stores like F&F, Natural House and Kodawariya. Or some manufacturers sell them on-line.

Marks & Web make soaps from sake/rice and Sakura/rapeseed.
They say they are seasonal, hand made and natural. Don't know if that's what you are looking for. I do love their products. Google for their many locations.
