Yakushima Stay and Cheap Travel? 2017/3/14 19:12
Hey everyone.

Basically there is a plan to go to Yakushima, for 2 nights 3 days. (Is this excessive)
Finally how much does it cost to stay there?
And is there a cheaper way to get to the island?

Regards Antony

Not excessive. My last trip I would have liked to stay longer.

Costs - depends where you stay.

Yakushima, for 2 nights 3 days. (Is this excessive)

If you love nature and enjoy hiking, 3 days could be too short to fully absorb this "paradise on earth".
I spent 4 nights, wish could stay longer.

We are going on 9 April - 4 days/3 nights from Haneda using a JTB package for just shy of 15man/person. This included little add-on costs for early flight and better hotel - maybe 4,000 each plus we added the insurance for 1,000 each. Certain that it could be done cheaper, but we didn`t really look.

Thanks everyone.

Its the first time I am travelling with People.
And its currently a logistical mess, with differences in budget and just arranging to meet up to talk over the general plan.

I agree 2 days 3 nights is not enough.

I was there 3 nights living on Wa No Cottage - Sen no ie, and i regreat not staying longer. I would highly recommend one of the smaller minshukus in Yakushima, as Wa no cottage was just great.

Have in mind this island is slow paced and public transport is limited. Consider renting a car if you go with friends, might be cheaper than bus anyways.

Ive been to japan many times and i still consider Yakushima among top 3 destinations/experiences.

Thanks I was a bit hesitant to go to Yakushima due to Logistical reasons + Cost.
But comments have made me feel more reassure it will be ok.

I have checked out the cottage though not sure if we will be fine with time and booking.

Yakushima Stay and Cheap Travel?

Visiting Yakushima is fairly expensive, but, IMO, worth every penny .

Usually around 6000 jpy / day offseason, +1-2000 jpy high season. Make sure you got your international drivers license back home. Depending on your home country it will be easy/difficult.
