Okayama Korakuen and Takamatsu Ritsurin Koen 2017/3/23 13:19
1. I know everyone has their own pace of travel, but what is a reasonable amount of time I should reserve for:

Okayama Korakuen (I am considering visiting right when it opens at 7:30 a.m. before I catch a flight - which I haven't booked yet - to Tokyo departing from Okayama at 11:20 a.m.

Takamatsu Ritsurin Koen (I plan to hike up Mount Yashima, and am wondering whether I can slip in a visit to the park in the morning before the hike).

2. Is morning jogging permitted at these parks?

Well, the both gardens are wide, so it may be better to choose must-see spots, which could very by seasons.

For Korakuen Garden, I recommend you allot at least 1 and a half hour.
It depends on your pace (as you see) and also your preferences, but you may ask a voluntary guide (if available in English) about something.

Several years ago before my trips in northern Shikoku, I stopped by Okayama City and visited Korakuen Garden. After arriving at Takamatsu Station, I used a rental bicycle service and went around the station, but I did not travel as far as to Ritsurin Garden.

I am not sure whether there were explanations written in English at spots in Korakuen Garden, but I suppose not. (My mother language is Japanese.)
Its website in English may be helpful to you.

I guess itfs not permitted; Korakuen and Ritsurin Koen are rather historical gardens than modern urban parks.
Please ask about that at tourist information centers in Okayama and Takamatsu Cities.

Jogging?!
Not appropriate, imho.
The Okayama park is ringed by grounds that would be doubtless lovely to jog around. Ritsurin koen somewhat less so, but doubtless there are many other places to jog in Takamatsu

Okayama Korakuen:

These two sites say
1 hour, 30 min: http://madokawindow.com/945.html
Less than 2 hours, 1 - 2 hours: https://oshiete.goo.ne.jp/qa/5265502.html

Google Maps suggests 1 hour from Korakuen to Okayama Airport. Taking account of another 1 hour for checking in, it would be OK to see Korakuen if you could visit at 7:30.

Ritsurin Koen:

These two sites say
60 min: http://konpira3.com/wp/%E9%AB%98%E6%9D%BE/%E6%A0%97%E6%9E%97%E5%85%AC%...
More than 1 hour: https://oshiete.goo.ne.jp/qa/2839373.html

Yashima:

7 climbing routes (30 min, 30 min, 40 min, 45 min, 50 min, 40 min, and 40 min).
http://www.yashima-navi.jp/course/mountaintrail.php

This site suggests
2 hour (10:00 - 12:00) for Yashima
3 hour (12:00 - 15:00) for Ritsurin Koen
