Hi,
May I know what is the approximate snow level in Shirakawa-go during late Dec to early January (around 30dec - 4jan)? Is snow boots required during this period? Or a casual winter shoes will be sufficient?

The average is around 60 cm, but the actual depth varies a lot from year to year. Below are the actual values for January 1 for the past few years:
