Suica card usage 2017/3/25 23:56
Hi all

I will be staying at Ikebukuro Hotel Metropolitan and I need to use Suica card to travel from Ikebukuro to Odaiba (Diver City shopping center) and then to Tokyo Sky Tree and then back to Ikebukuro. May I know which station at Odaiba and which station at Tokyo Sky Tree I can use Suica card? Thanks!

All station in Odaiba and around Tokyo Skytree accept Suica.

I would take the Saikyo/Rinkai Line from Ikebukuro to Tokyo Teleport (trains bound for Shin-Kiba are direct). Transportation from Odaiba to the Skytree and back to Ikebukuro is less simple. The station under the Skytree is Oshiage Station. Tokyo Skytree Station is also nearby.

Hi
Thank you for replying to my queries. May I know the railway route to travel from Odaiba to Tokyo Skytree and then back to Ikebukuro? I intend to plan to travel to Odaiba and Tokyo Skytree within a day but I am afraid navigation take lots of time. Thanks!

Use google maps. There will be multiple possible routes for both those journeys.

Hi

Thanks. I went google maps to search and also use Hyperdia but I realized there are some terms such as

2・3・7・10号車. May I know what that represents and its meaning?

Thanks!

These are just "car number" for the best/shortest trasfering route. (as nearest stairs/ticket gates)
In mid Tokyo most commuter trains using around 10 cars long like this.

Hi sacong

Thanks for your reply but I am not too sure what you mean. Are you inferring that no 2 car is shortest route towards the gates?

Thanks!

Re: Suica card usage 2017/3/28 04:08
Yes, that is what he/she is trying to say. Commuters want to take the shortest routes possible to avoid walking/wasting time, so the stations are clearly marked with the cars that are closest to escalators and stairs to the exits.

Re: information of train car numbers 2017/3/28 09:20
Does HyperDia suggest you train car numbers?
If so, that’s news to me.

no 2 car is shortest route towards the gates?

The route towards a gate is not always shortest; your waking route on the platform is expected to be comparatively short when you disembark from any of the cars of these numbers.
For example, concerning a station which has only one gate, if two staircases lead to the concourse where the gate is, both two cars which are close to these two staircases may be indicated.

On some railroad lines, length of trains are not all the same.
In some trains, car numbers are not easily found.
Operation of escalators and elevators in stations may be temporarily suspended for maintenance works during the daytime.
So, please think the information of car numbers just as for reference.

@ omotenashi

No. (Google map,too)
Written "Japanese" in her profile page.
Maybe searched at "Jorudan(JP)" I guess.
(EN ver. doesn't showing)

"NAVITIME" also showing car numbers for the best, but "about" a lot :(

Hi

Thanks to those who provided valuable railway information. I got the information about the nos of cars from jorudan website and not from Hyperdia.
There are some information that states front and back instead of stating the nos of the cars. May I know what that means?

Thanks

Re: Suica card usage 2017/3/30 03:39
It is difficult to think too much :)

That "front and back" is just "front and rear/tail (side)" car as direction of train.
Japanese "後/後ろ/後方" sometimes translated(by automatic translator) wrong to "back" than "rear/tail".
"やや前/後" is closer mid cars of front/rear side cars.

Already answered Tokyo urban train cars are long mostly, but car numbers not fixed in some lines.
Will be different numbers car train coming or not is depends on line by date/time or last stop(=route).
So in those cases trains stopping point will be "about" than exact/fixed car numbers suggested line.
