Hi,
Is Waisak ( buddhist holiday ) on 14 May 2017 a public holiday in Japan?
If so how does it effect tourism ( transportation)?

AFAIK none of the public national holidays in Japan is religion-based so same goes for Christmas Ramadan Nyepi (Balinese Hindu) etc. which are not holidays in Japan.
