Boric Acid powder-purchase or bring from US?

I use boric acid medicinally and will be in Japan for three weeks. I have a large jar of boric acid powder that I use to fill empty pill capsules at home, but I am concerned about bringing unmarked pills through customs for my trip.

Can I purchase pharmaceutical grade boric acid in Japan? What about empty pill capsules? Should I leave my own supply at home and purchase when I arrive, bring prepared pills in another bottle that I have lying around and risk it, or bring the powder and empty pill capsules with me?

As far as I know Boric Acid is used mainly in two cases in Japan; 1) to wash eyes, or 2) to kill cockroaches. Both are prohibited to take as oral medicines.

Medicines that could be allowed to import are those for up to one or two months. It seems they count them by the number of pills. So, if you bring your jar, it is not likely to pass it through customs.

It looks like that the only solution could be prepared pills. But it would better to consult with officials beforehand.

Based on the medicinal uses of boric acid, I'm surprised you ingest it orally in pill form at all. What do you use it for that means you have to take it orally? Why can't you use it as a wash or in powdered form, which is the usual method for its many uses?

Hi guest, thanks for your concern! My OB/GYN suggested I use boric acid suppositories as a method of regulating vaginal PH after sex or menstruation. This is very common and an easy thing to learn if you simply Google it.

That is one of the uses I'm aware of, but usually it's used as a wash, not taken orally. That's where I was confused.
