Book materials for MEXT undergraduate exams? 2017/4/21 19:44
Hello !

I am currently in 2nd grade of high school and starting next year I will be a part of Natural science curriculum until i graduate. I have been studying Japanese for 2 years now and now i think my level could be estimated as JLPT level N4. I plan on continuing to study Japanese and participate in Japanese language courses for 2 more years .One of my friends from my country recently went to study abroad in Japan on MEXT scholarship program and so far she told me its amazing .Since i want to study medicine in future and studying abroad is the only option for me I've been thinking of applying to MEXT undergraduate program in 2018/19 .Since I read trough most of the internet posts I realised that the exams that I will be required to take are English , Japanese , Math , Physics and Chemistry .Personally , I have never been a fond of math and the Chemistry knowledge I lack .So I decided to start preparing for these exams early so I could really fill in the holes in my knowledge and therefore spent the last 2 weeks searching for the best books . I wanted to ask if anyone passed the MEXT undergraduate exams and particularly how did you prepare for them . Regarding English and Japanese I don't think they will be a problem since I am more worried about these other 3 subjects . In my school I saw that IB programme uses books such as Advanced biology , chemistry , physics ( Oxford edition ) and I was wondering if these books can be seen as a good prep material for this exam.I have already seen some of the previous year tests and to me they looked difficult but not impossible to complete .Personally any information about these exams can be very useful to me so if you have any books you would want to recommend even if they are books about Japanese language please feel free to leave your recommendations bellow . My grades aren't bad my GPA ( on 5.0 scale ) was 4.67 last year and this year it should be around 4.85. ( P.S. I would kindly ask all of the people who have the opinion that studying in Japan is impossible to save the negative comments for themselves since I had many people tell me that these kinds of things are too idealistic and therefore a waste of my time . Since one of my friends from my country made it into this program ( mind you my country is one of the lowest ranked in the world, economically speaking ) it made me want to give it a shot too. Of course this does not mean that Japan is my only option . In case I don't get the scholarship I am going to study at Germany so I have a plan B already secured .)

Thank you in advance !

At first, it seems chemistry and "biology" should be required to Medicine.

p.1 2. (2) Natural Sciences-C: Medicine, and Dentistry
p.4 6. (1) chemistry and biology when applying for Natural Sciences B or C

I have just looked into Oxford Editions. Chemistry would be similar that in Japan, but biology... I haven't taken biology in the entrance exam, though.

Here are popularity rankings for chemistry and biology. Your future mates should have used some of them.
