Visiting Shirakami Sanchi in beginning of May

Hi!

I am planning to visit Shirakami Sanchi in the beginning of May (1, 2 and 3 May) and I was wondering if it is possible to hike up Mount Shirakami(dake) at this time of the year. I have read on the internet that it possible and that the trails are closed for winter until the end of May. Now I am confused and would be very grateful is someone could help out!
