Why not elaborate temple and shrines in NIKKO and kura (warehouses) of samurai time in TOCHGI or KAWAGOE?

Here is a guide to around fifty notable modern buildings in Tokyo: http://whereintokyo.com/dbinx/notarch.htmlAs you can see, many of them are concentrated in the Aoyama and Ginza neighborhoods, so it might make sense to devote a couple of hours to each of those neighborhoods. Right now your itinerary has you visiting one place in Ginza (Nakagin) and one in Aoyama (Prada) on your first day and then going to your hotel - I would do them on separate days and make sure to see the rest of the neighborhood while you're there. Also you might want to consult a map and try to see notable buildings that are near each other on the same day. Archi-Depot is a must-visit - I would set aside a couple of hours for that one. Also the Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum is well worth a visit: http://whereintokyo.com/venues/25083.htmlHonestly, trying to visit eight cities in twelve days sounds kind of brutal. I would skip Nara, Mt. Fuji, and Hakone, and maybe even Shirakawago and Takayama. (I assume this is a tour for one architecture student. If it's for a group, then eight cities is just ridiculously ambitious.)

In Tokyo-walk up Omotesando to Aoyama. Take in the Ando shopping centre and keep straight on, ending up at the museum in the old-style house. Seriously consider swapping one or two days to go to Naoshima.

Is it the influence of Bruno Taut that you want to go to Katsura rikyu? If so, there is a house built by Atami in Bruno Taut. It is said that the only existing building that Bruno Taut left in Japan. Kyu-hyugabettei Saturday, Sunday and public holidays only 10: 00, 11: 00, 13: 00, 14: 00, 15: 00 (reservation system each time) Adult 300 yen · Teen middle school student 200 yen · Elementary school student free http://travel.ataminews.gr.jp/documents/pamphlet_en.pdf#search=%27kyuh...If it is Atami, there is not much involvement in architecture, but there is the MOA museum. There is a room which reproduced the golden tea room of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Especially February is recommended. (Because the works of Kohoru Ogata will be displayed at the time of plum blossoms) Http://www.moaart.or.jp/en/

By the way, the underground part of Kyu-hyugabettei was made by Bruno Taut. The upper floor was made by Jin Watanabe. (An architect known for the main building of Tokyo National Museum and Wako, Hotel New Grand in Yokohama etc.)
