Anything to do near Chitose station?

Our itinerary has us visiting Shiraoi (for the Ainu museum) on Sunday morning, then making our way to Shikotsuko that afternoon, by transit. The last bus to Shikotsuko departs Chitose station at 16:41, and the latest train that will get us to Chitose station (from Shiraoi) in time for that bus arrives there at 15:02. So that leaves us about 1 -1/2 hours to fill. We could stay on the train 10 more minutes to New Chitose airport, and get the same bus from there around 15 minutes earlier, so we'd just have an hour - but longer on the bus.
Ideas to spend an hour or so at either Chitose or the airport?

Someone also mentioned there is a salmon aquarium near the station. We might check that out (if we have time).
