Fukuji onsen to Narita airport

Hello,

We are travelling to Japan next week and will be staying for 16 days. Our last two nights will be spent in a ryokan in Fukuji onsen (already booked), from where we will need to travel back to Narita airport for the flight back home. Our flight departs at 18:55 on Saturday 10th June. What are peoples' thoughts on the best route to take? From what I can put together we could take a bus from Fukuji back to Takayama, take a train Takayama to Nagoya, then Nagoya to Shinagawa, Shinagawa to the airport. Another option I can think of would be to go from Fukuji to Matsumoto, from there to Shinjuku, then Shinjuku to the airport.

Any advice or comments on the above are greatly appreciated :)

Bottom line: Take Matsumoto route.

The first bus to Takayama departs Fukuji onsen at 9:16 which will arrive Takayama bus center at 10:31.

Wide View Hida departs Takayama at 11:32 and after two transfers you will arrive Narita AP at 17:29, which I think is somewhat tight for the 18:55 departure.

The first bus to Matsumoto is the same as that to Takayama, which arrive Hirayu onsen at 9:28. You must wait for the bus to Matsumoto departing at 11:10.

Therefore you might better take 10:16 bus (Fukuji onsen) which arrive Hirayu onsen at 10:28. Anyway you will arrive Matsumoto at 12:35.

You will arrive Narita AP at 16:56.

If you take the bus from 一宝水 (sorry, I don't know how to read though I am a Japanese) you will start 一宝水 at 8:18 and arrive Hirayu onsen at 8:28. Then take 8:50 bus and arrive Matsumoto at 10:15.

The 11:08 train with a transfer at Shinjuku will take you to Narita AP at 14:57.

Thank you so much. It seems to make much more sense to go via Matsumoto, I will take the early 8:50 bus from Hirayu onsen and the 11:08 train from Matsumoto just to be extra sure of time!

That will be better, I think. If you tell your accommodation that you want to get 8:50 bus departing from Hirayu onsen, they will tell you the best way. If they have a car, they might drive you to Hirayu onsen. At least they will show you the best route to 一宝水 bus stop.

The route I posted is somewhat difficult which includes 7 min transfer at Shinjuku. You might better consider a 30 min later Narita Express train.
