7D5N Hokkaido Free & Easy, Nov 2017 2017/6/22 12:56
Hi, we have planned to visit Hokkaido from 23 Nov 2017 to 28 Nov 2017.
There are 5 of us, 2 adults & 3 kids (aged 14, 12 and 4).
We will reach Shin Chiltose Airport on 24 Nov morning.

1. Can we self drive in Hokkaido at the end of Nov ?
2. I would love to have itinerary recommendation for Hokkaido at the end of Nov ?

Thanks.

At that time, Hokkaido would be already very cold. You could drive a car, but do expect some snow on the way. Moreover, daytime is short.

What are your preferences?

You might be able to ski. The image in the above page was taken at Kamui Sky Link near Asahikawa in Nov.

If you dare to go to Shunkunitai near Nemuro, you could see five thousand swans. Or, Tsurui vilage near Kushiro to see two hundred cranes there.

This site suggests the followings.

Hakodate Daimon Yokocho http://www.hakodate-yatai.com/
Otaru
Tokachi Lake Shikaribetsu would be just frozen

Asahiyama Zoo http://www.city.asahikawa.hokkaido.jp/asahiyamazoo/
Sapporo White Illumination http://white-illumination.jp/
Christman Market http://www.sapporo-christmas.com/english/index.html

According to this site, children friendly ski resorts are
Kiroro Nov 21-
Sahoro Dec 1-
Tomamu Nov 29-
The dates shown are opening in 2014.

So, if you want to see swans and/or cranes, go to Nemuro and/or Kushiro. Tasting sweats at Obihiro, trying to do ski in Sahoro or Tomamu. If not cold enough, drop at Lake Shikaribetsu and Asahiyama Zoo near Asahikawa. Do Sapporo at the end.

If you want to go to warmer areas, visit Hakodate. There is Yunokawa Onsen nearby. Dinner at Daimon Yokocho. Go to Otaru. Kiroro should be open. Then, finally Sapporo.
