Can i enter temples with tattoo?

I will be in japan next august, so i heard that tattoos are forbidden in several spaces so my question is... if i go to temples do i need to cover my tattoos? i have on both arms!

Temples and shrines are no problem with tattoos. It's the onsen and sento (bath houses) where you might have issues.

You mentioned visiting in August when it is awfully hot in Japan, but even in the heat I do not think most Japanese would show their tattoos when outside. Although showing tattoos is not a problem, I would wear long sleeves outside in your case to follow suit.
