JR Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass+Icoca & Haruka? 2017/7/5 11:49
Hi,

Below is my 8-day train plan in Kansai + Kanazawa:

9/20/17: Kansai Airport to Kyoto via JR Haruka limited express train

9/23/17: Kyoto to Kanazawa via JR Thunderbird limited express train

9/25/17: Kanazawa to Shin-Osaka via JR Thunderbird limited express train

9/27/17: Shin-Osaka to Kansai Airport via JR Haruka limited express train

May I know if the most cost effective way is to buy the 7-day JR Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass (15,000 yen) for 9/20 to 9/26 plus an Icoca & Haruka ticket (3,300 yen) for the 9/27 Shin-Osaka to Kansai Airport trip?

Thank you very much for any advice!

Just possible, but into Kyoto and Kanazawa city sightseeing has few opportunities to use JR lines,
so Kobe,Toyama or for wider range of traveling will benefit exactly.

"ICOCA" is just a one of "prepaid card" without discount,
just covenient for transfering and shopping at convenience stores mainly as no need bringing extra coins.
It is better to search for other discount pass for sightseeing in Kyoto city.

Thanks. I think the Icoca & Haruka ticket (3,300 yen) offers a savings of about 1,000 yen off the regular train ticket. The 3,300 yen price includes 500 yen deposit and 1,500 yen balance, so Shin-Osaka to Kansai airport via JR Haruka is only 1,300 yen.

Just wondering if these are the best passes/tickets for my trip...
