Domestic Flights - how early to arrive? 2017/7/9 07:17
On my planned trip, I have four domestic flights. I will be flying out of Kagoshima, Yakushima, Okinawa, and Ishigaki. I was wondering how early before the scheduled departure I would need to arrive to make sure I catch the flight. I wouldn't imagine that these airports are very large and require much time to go through security. Thanks.

I recommend to plan to arrive one hour before departure. In theory, you can arrive as late as 20 minutes before departure, but there are always risks of unexpected delays along the way to the airport (or inside the airport); so, I recommend to arrive about an hour early.

30-60 minutes. It will be somewhere on your booking.

This is what's on my booking (Peach Airlines - KIX to FUK):

-For domestic flights, check-in closes 30 minutes (25 minutes for KIX and Naha) before scheduled departure time.
-For international flights, check-in closes 50 minutes before scheduled departure time.

It is written in English on the web of airline company. (NOT airport web)
However, you have to read both sites to confirm the traveling time in the airport.

If terminal building is not big and number of flights are not a lot, before 30 min enough.
It is not international flight, security inspection will be over within 3 min.

In airports that use larger passenger step(stair, trap),

deadlines are faster than airplanes that directly connect boarding bridges.

Yakushima airport is the smallest in that four.
