Hiking Mt. Fuji in October 2017 2017/8/3 19:01
When i decided to visit Japan, the first thing i added to my to-do list was "Hike Fuji-san". I will be in Tokyo on the 1st of October. Meantime I have been doing my research for my vacation and was disappointed to see that the trails will be closed from September 10th.

I am desperate to climb. I read many blogs which says, "Climb at your own risk", after the trails are officially closed. Has anyone climbed Fuji san in October (I am planning to hike in the first week of October)? If so, please share your experiences. Were there any restrictions ?

Hoping for some answers :)

Cheers !

A man in the picture was helped by experts coincidentally,
but other one not shown in the picture slipped down and died already.
His dead bodies were found two weeks later.

This is another climbers(died all) fallen about 1000m.

"Desperate to climb" is a recipe for disaster and a bad reason - logic should rule. Not knowing your level of experience and the fact you list it as a "hike" - perhaps you are under prepared.

I have friends that have had very bad accidents while mountain climbing (including death) and they were experienced and rational people. Fuji-san regularly kills people out of season because it is a dangerous climb and people take it too lightly.

I'm planning on a night climb on the 2nd of October this year from 10pm and hopefully summit at 4am then return down.

Bullet climb however at the first sign of snow I will return to the bottom.

If you want to climb with me you are more than welcome.

Snow falls can be expected between late September and early October.
You will need proper winter climbing gears when you climb Mt Fuji after summer climbing season.
No one will rescue you if you are involved in accidents.
