How has information about bus lines in Nagoya 2017/8/15 23:26
Hi all,

I'm desperately looking for information about the bus lines available in Nagoya like time tables and route maps. I have the official map that can be found e.g. at this link: http://www.kotsu.city.nagoya.jp/en/sp/TOKUNAVI/TRP0001353/TRF0004300.p...
However, this seems not to contain city buses. I'm particular interessted in the areas of Ama-District / Yatomi, and around Mitsubishi plant.

thanks in advance

Have you tried Google Maps? It works well for city buses here in Sendai, so I suppose it should work in Nagoya as well.

I generally use Navitime for buses (English available, but Japanese recommended if possible since line and station names can get tricky). Is there a particular place you want to go? The area you are thinking of will only partially be covered by Nagoya City buses, and you would probably also have to use some private or local routes.

Hi Firas, thanks for the hint. Unfortunately Google presents rail ways and subway routes but at least for Nagoya no local / city bus lines.

Hi Gigi, I want to go to MHI near Isewangan Expressway and I'm looking for public transportation options to decide, where it's best to stay...
I checked out the free version of Navitime. It shows some colored roads in the map (public transportation routes?) but no information of bus stops in terms of location and schedule. Do I need for this informaton the commercial version?

Of course GMaps does not show bus lines directly; there are too many. But if you look for directions from one place to another, you do get bus routes in the results.

Re: How has information about bus lines in Nagoya 2017/8/16 18:17
unfortunately, Google doesn't show bus connections for a specific route. Although I don't kow if it is because there aren't none in Nagoya or Google don't kow them for Nagoya, I suppose the latter...
However, I'm not looking for an specific route but for the entire (best: visual) route network of Ama-District / Yatomi, to understand from which points in the city I have easy access to my destination (Mitsubishi). Thus, I only kow one of the to end ponts of a potential route.

Mitsubishi/MHI is not a place, it's a company. Are you being purposefully difficult?

Firas, don't be silly
In my initial post I referred to Ama-District and Mitsubishi plant and there is only one Mitsubishi plant in that area. Also I always said, I'm looking for a route map not for the connection between two specific places. So, what's your point?

Re: How has information about bus lines in Nagoya 2017/8/16 18:56
Are you talking about this place?

http://www.mhi.co.jp/company/location/contents/map/tobisima.html

If so, I think there is no bus going close to it. This area is industrial area and Aich is the so-called "Car society" so all of the employers will go with their own cars.

The official page cited above says you can go as far as Kinjo-futo of Aonami line and you can catch taxi (10 min ride).

Hi Frog1954,

thanks for the info, this is indeed the place I need to go. Sad, if this is the only option as I have to do so for a couple of weeks...

I have to do so for a couple of weeks...

If it is for work, then you should have collaborators at MHI, and it is very unlikely that they don't do anything for your commute. Maybe someone will pick you up at train stations such as Tsukijiguchi (this would be more probable since no toll road is needed for this route) or Kinjo futo.

it is indeed for work and could be that customer cares for a transportation by car. I'm afraid to have to stay close to downtown, which means approx. 1 hr each way :-(

Re: How has information about bus lines in Nagoya 2017/8/17 10:53
No, there is a bus that goes there - it's run by Aoi Kotsu, and it leaves from in front of Midland Square, across the street from JR Nagoya Station. 700 yen one way and takes about 25 minutes. Get off at "Mitsubishi Juko Minami" stop and it's about a 5 minute walk from there. Technically it's the Nagoya Komaki Airport bus line (NOT Chubu Centrair - this is the old "Nagoya Airport" from before Chubu opened), but MHI is right next to the old airport so this bus line will take you there. Couldn't find any information in English, but this is the website in Japanese:

Oops sorry here is the schedule in English, provided by Nagoya Komaki Airport. Mitsubishi Juko Minami is one stop (only 3 or 4 minutes) before the airport. Even if you make a mistake and get off at the airport you could still walk to MHI.

Oops sorry, I just realized that it was different MHI location than what I was thinking of after reading the previous replies. My apologies. Yes, the best thing to do is talk to your employer. They will help arrange transportation for you.

Hi Gigi,

You are referring this place.

But as far as I understand, the OP wants to go to another factory of MHI.

HI
I appreciate all your efforts to help me! I just find out that there is a "Tobishima bus" a Japanese colleague of mine will check out the Japanese Information. Hopefully, this is an option, otherwise transportation by customer...
I will later give feed-back to provide information for anyone else searching for this info
