More details regarding the map referenced above:
In the map, "現在地" in a red box is the location of this map. It shows the Zentsuji temple (with 5-story pagoda) and parking lot below it.
The main route is the zigzag path to the top.
There is a secondary and steeper path. On the map, it is where the torii gates are lined. However, when I went in 2016, all those torii gates were taken down due to the state of their conditions. I do not know if they plan to reinstall them.

Thankyou 4koku, I was guessing there was an access from the east, but its good to get confirmation. I'm planning on going to the Temple first so I should be okay in finding a path. I don't mind whether I find the steep path or the easy one, it just looked nice a nice activity to do after the Temple. As compared to Fushimi Inari, where I did accidentally find the steep path...
