3 days in Minakami. Worthwhile?

I'm going to Japan in December for the first time. I want to go to Takaragawa Onsen so I had planned the following:
Dec 19: Go to Minakami
Dec 20: Go to Takaragawa Onsen and visit around Minakami
Dec 21: Return to Tokyo
But I read in the Takaragawa Onsen website that you can make a one day trip to the Onsen. So my question is the following: Is there anything interesting in Minakami worth using 3 days of my trip?

I've been there, 3 days is too much, but the Onsen around the area is good and it's best to rent a car.
