Tama the cat stationmaster 2008/5/29 11:19
We read about Tama and would like to visit her at her station in Kishi station.
There are any other worthy attractions, places to visit along the Kishigawa Line.
Thank you!

Hahahaha! 2008/6/2 00:12
This is really great! This cute cat not only saved the station and the line, but has also put Kinokawa on the map; if you do a search for 'Kinokawa' on Yahoo or Google, you'll only find Tama the cat (and some porn)! Maybe she can also become the mayor of Kinokawa! What does Tama mean?

Tama
... in addition to "ball," "sphere (of precious stone)," it also means "precious gems," "precious," and also has the connotation of "round and cute," thus Tama is a common name for pet cats :)

I think even BBC wrote an article about this Tama the stationmaster cat :)

I am also thinking of visiting the stationmaster cat from Osaka, is there an english sight that lists some sights to visit in the area, or does anyone have any ideas? What about Wakayama, is there anything interesting there?

Wakayama 2009/1/13 01:27
To visit Tama the stationmaster cat, you have to go to Wakayama City and take another private rail line.

Wakayama has a small castle up the hill. More beautiful is the Kimii-dera temple. Between late March and early April, it's a very popular site for viewing cherry blossom. The Kuroshio Market in Marina City has fresh seafood which you can buy and eat on BBQ pits by the seaside terrace. Nextdoor to the market is Porto Europa, an European theme park.

If you have more time in Wakayama City, go further south to the onsen resort town of Shirahama which has even more to offer. Wakayama City is also a good base for Koya-san.

I'm interested to take this Kishigawa line as well, but the company's website is all in japanese..wonder anyone can help me on these:
-from the first station to the last station (kishi station),how long will the journey take? when will the last train departs from kishi station to go back to the first station?
- is there a certain timing whereby the strawberry theme and Toy theme train will arrive at each station?
- there are 14 stations for this line, which station should I alight to explore the place?

thanks!!!

To Kishi station, from Osaka 2009/5/18 20:26
First go to JR Wakayama station from Osaka, by rapid train.

Transfer to Wakayama Dentetsu Kishigawa line, at Wakayama.
The first train for Kishi departs at 5:55 A.M., and trains depart two or three times an hour. Please note, some trains don't go to Kishi.
The last train for Wakayama from Kishi departs at 10:54 P.M.

By the way, the Hyperdia may not be useful in Kansai area because it mainly show JR.
