Kyoto Hostel Recommendation 2009/6/1
Kyoto City
Hi,

Urgently need anyone help to recommend a ryokan/hostel near JR Kyoto Station for Sep, 18-20 2009. My budget is around 4000-7000 yen with ensuite bahtroom.
My friends suddenly bailed and my booking is for triple room and the ryokan I booked no longer have availability for single.

Thank's in advance.

Maybe you can try Kyoto White Hotel? A friend of mine has stayed there before, with no problem, though I've read (maybe here on this forum) someone complaining about them not having any non-smoking rooms.

You should try Ryokan Shimizu, it's 6600yen per person but doesn't specifically say whether or not they have single rooms. They all have ensuit bathrooms. I stayed there in February last year and it was great.

Another place is K's house, I've never stayed there but it gets pretty good reviews.

I booked this place on the recommendation of a Flickr.com user and stayed 6 nights. Loved it. Bus ride from the station but still a very good location. My room was 6 tatami and 2800 yen. Awesome traditional building too and has a garden.

K's House 2009/6/2
I recommend K's House. Stayed there a few years ago and the place was fantastic- they have both single rooms or dorms for a cheaper option. Everything was clean, the staff were fantastic and its not far from Kyoto station (10 minutes by foot). I am staying there again this July.

Japanese Guest Houses 2009/6/2
I recommend this website:

http://www.japaneseguesthouses.com/prefecture.htm

They'll even call the Ryokan and book it for you. If you click on Kyoto under prefectures, you can also read reviews, see pictures, and find locations and near-by rail stations.

Thank You 2009/6/16
Thank you all for the respond. I've booked with Nagomi-ryokan Yu...

Do you have any suggestion for hostel in Tokyo that is walkable from JR Shinjuku Station.

I booked at Kadoya, but still looking for cheaper rate.

Thank's

Business hotel 2009/10/5
You can try the Nishi Shinjuku Hotel. It is less than 5 minutes from the JR Shinjuku west exit. It is an inexpensive business hotel.

Hi m3lodi3s,
May I ask how much is the room rate for Nagomi-ryokan Yu?
I am also looking for an affordable accommodation in Kyoto; so far only found one in shin-osaka, charging 7350JPY nett for a double room with Japanese breakfast.
Thanks.

@ Starlight 2009/10/6
Hi Starlight,

I booked through hostels.com the rate is cheaper than when I asked them through email (yuu@nagomi-kyoto.com)

This is the website I found for the rates:
