Ryokan with hot springs bath 2009/6/2
We will be arriving at Narita airport and plan to stay 2 nights to experience the Ryokan. We need some place that is accessible by train that has hot spring baths. Also while in Japan we would like to receive spa treatments that are unique to Japan. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you, Debbie

Click on the prefecture that you want, and the ones with the red flame are ones that have hot springs.

This website will also book your stay for you. You can read reviews, see pictures, and it tells you about near-by shopping places.

With only two nights, I recommend to select a hot spring resort in the Kanto Region. Hakone is the most easily accessible:

"Onsen" is uniquely Japanese, especially when combined with an overnight stay at a ryokan.

For excellent, sulfur smelling bath water, I recommend the onsen town of Kusatsu, although a bus ride is required from the closest train station:

The best onsen ryokan ryokan I have stayed at so far is also relatively easily reachable from Tokyo, but making reservations is difficult because of its popularity:
