Kansai Airport to Kyoto by train 2009/6/2
Kyoto City
Hi there, I will be arriving at Kansai Airport at 8:30pm and want to catch a train straight to Kyoto, which train should I catch and what time do these trains run till? Will 8:30pm be too late to be catching a train to Kyoto? Once in Kyoto will the train station be close to Nakagyo? Thanks in advance.

Direct trains to Kyoto operate until 22:16, so you should have no problems to make it to Kyoto on that evening.

Or bus. 2009/6/3

You can also take a bus from the airport. Should be cheaper than the train and take approximately two hours.

The thing with the trains is that im not sure if you can take them directly or you might have to change in Osaka.

The train, the train... 2009/6/3
Jacqui,

You can take the Haruka Express directly to Kyoto. It will take about 75 minutes and cost you about 3500 yen.

You can take a combination of trains that will first take you into Osaka, where you can transfer to a train or subway to Kyoto. It can take you up to 2 hours easily.

You can aslo take a bus or shuttle to Kyoto. Price and departure based on which service you choose. The bus is the easiest because some of the others require advance booking.

Check out this page for general information:

You can also go to the Kansai Internatinal Website. Check out the page below. When you do you will notice the "Hyperdia-timetable link".

http://www.kansai-airport.or.jp/en/access/train/index.h...

Select it. Enter Kansai for the start point and Kyoto for Destination. Select a time. You will get a list routes, time and cost.

JR West Pass 2009/6/3
http://www.westjr.co.jp/english/travel/jrp/index.html

JR West Pass(2000yen) pays off for just oneway trip to JR Kyoto station by direct train.

Nakagyo-ku is not within walking distance from JR Kyoto station. You need to check how to continue from the station to your hotel.

Take the Bus 2009/6/4
There is a direct train that you can take but it is not cheap unless you have a JR Rail Pass.

If you do not have a Rail Pass then I highly recommend you take the bus. You can store your bags underneath and just wait until the bus drivers stops in Kyoto. From there you can take a taxi to your Japanese inn.

MK Taxi also offers a convenient way to get from the airport to your Japanese inn.
