Ferry schedules 2009/6/5
Okinawa
I am looking for English ferry schedules to get from Okinawa up to Motobu. I understand that ferries from Naha to kagoshima often stop at motobu but I am arriving on a plane and want to go straight to Motobu (as a base to go to ie island and see the aquarium) any help is very appreciated.

Ferries depart Naha at 7am and arrive in Motobu around 9am. Operation days depend on the month. So, if you let me know when you are traveling, I can give you more details.

Note also that the Motobu Port is about 7-8 kilometers south of the aquarium. The following map shows the port. The aquarium is located near the westernmost tip of the peninsula:

Hello again,

I will be coming to Okinawa on Wednesday the 29th of July and will arrive at around 11.30am. Is it possible to get to Motobu by ferry the same day?

No, 7am is before 11:30am! But on the next morning (July 30) at 7am, there is a Marix Line ferry to Kagoshima, which stops at Motobu along the way.

Of course, what am I thinking!

I am also wondering about cost, how much will the ferry cost compared to the bus? I know the ferry should only take around 2 hours, how long does the bus take and would you recommend wither?

Thank you once again for your help.
Rob

As mentioned in the other thread, the one way fare by ferry is 1900 yen.

The bus ride is probably a few hundred yen cheaper.
