Japanese Yen Notes 2009/6/6 I'm concerned about having notes that are too large, can someone tell me what notes are commonly used? Thanks by iluv2travel   ... 2009/6/6 1000, 5000 and 10000 yen notes are frequently used in everyday life. by Uji rate this post as useful you can use them all easily 2009/6/6 Japan is one of the few countries in the world that this is never an issue. You can hand over a 10,000 yen note when paying for a 120 yen item at a convenience store and the staff will not care at all. As Uji says, all three notes are used commonly in everyday life. The only people I have ever found to be reluctant to accept 10,000 yen notes are the ladies at train station kiosks (kiosks sell sweets and newspapers etc.)- best not to go above 1,000 yen with them. by Sira (guest) rate this post as useful ... 2009/6/6 10,000 yen notes are often not appreciated for small fees in taxis, buses and small temples. by Uji rate this post as useful
