Budget accommodation for Tokyo Disney? 2009/6/22
Tokyo 23-ku
Hi,
I'm planning to visit Tokyo Disney for two days in July and need some advice on where to stay! Ideally, I'd like to pay as little as possible and I know this will involve some travel, but I don't know Japan very well and have no idea which area to stay in so that I'm not traveling for over an hour there and back! Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also, has anyone stayed in the Sunroute Plaza at the Disney Resort, it seems to have some quite reasonable offers that are making me suspicious :)
Thanks!

Dormitories are available from around 2000 yen per night:

Many of them are located around Asakusa/Ueno, from where Disneyland can be reached relatively fast and inexpensively.

Why not commute 2009/6/26
None of my business, but if it were me I would stay in Tokyo and just take a train out to Disneyland in the morning. Chiba is kind of lacking in afterhours entertainment, no?

RE: Hotels for Tokyo Disney: budget 2009/6/27
: Ideally, I'd like to pay as little as possible
: has anyone stayed in the Sunroute Plaza at the Disney Resort

Roughly speaking, when I plan to stay at a hotel in Tokyo urban areas, I set my rate at about 5,000 - 10,000 yen for a night with a breakfast, about 7,500 - 12,500 for a night with 2 meals.

How many of you are going to stay? I browsed the web sites of six Tokyo Disney Resort Official Hotels; five of them including Sunroute don't seem to set single-person rates. (Many hotels in and around Tokyo must have economic plans; there might be cases in which it doesn't cost so much even if you solely stay paying at a rate for two persons.)

RE: Hotels for Tokyo Disney: time 2009/6/27
: no idea which area to stay in so that I'm not traveling for over an hour there and back!

If you mean "within 30 minutes for one way to Tokyo Disney Resort" then your options are very limited, I guess. If you mean "within one hour to Maihama Sta." then there must be plenty of hotels which meet this criterion.
From Maihama Sta. you can either walk or take a train of Disney Resort Line (a loop line by monorail) to get to TDL / TDS.

You will need at least 15 min. for transfer at Tokyo Sta. from a JR line to JR Keiyo Line (lying deep underground). Routes without this transfer include:
A. JR Keiyo Line (train for Tokyo) -- Maihama Sta.
B. Subway Yurakucho Line -- Shin-kiba Sta. -- JR Keiyo Line (train for Tokyo; arr. 5 min.) -- Maihama Sta.
C. Subway Hibiya Line -- Hatchobori Sta. -- JR Keiyo Line (train for Soga; 10 - 15 min.) -- Maihama Sta.
D. Subway Marunouchi Line -- Tokyo Sta. -- JR Keiyo Line (arr. 15 min) -- Maihama Sta.

Examples of hotels:
Sorry these are not necessarily recommendatory ones, because I picked them up mainly for geographic convenience and my ear recognition....
Their station names may be keys for your search.
For Route A.
- Oriental Hotel tokyo bay: near Shin-Urayasu Sta. of JR Keiyo Line
- Hotel New Otani Makuhari: near Kaihimmakuhari Sta. of JR Keiyo Line
For Route B.
- Ginza Capital Hotel: near Shintomicho Sta. (Y20) of Yurakucho Line
- Yaesu Fujiya Hotel: near Ginza-itchome Sta. (Y19) of Yurakucho Line
For Route C.
- Toyoko Inn Nihon-bashi Ningyo-cho: near Ningyo-cho Sta. (H13) of Hibiya Line
- Chisun Hotel Ueno: near Ueno Sta. (H17) of Hibiya Line
For Route D.
- Hotel Unizo Kanda: near Otemachi Sta. (M18) of Marunouchi Line
- Keio Presso Inn Kanda: near Awajicho Sta. (M19) of Marunouchi Line
